Last week I was invited to give an interview by Voice of America about the role of YouTube in the Syrian uprising and the problematic nature of trying to verify sources (something I wrote about in an article for the New Statesman last year).
It’s an interesting topic, and there is much debate about the reliability or otherwise of the footage coming out of Homs and other Syrian towns that are purported to be effectively under siege by Assad’s troops. But the sheer volume of videos is something which is difficult to ignore, and a testament to the bravery and perseverance of the Syrian people to disseminate the footage to the wider world.
So here is the culmination of the interview, enjoy!
